Four years ago, I was walking through Le Marais with my girlfriends. I remember stopping on a particular street in Le Marais and thinking: one day, I want to bring LENA MAE here.
Last month, we did.
It took a small team, a lot of late nights, and, true to how we do everything at LENA MAE, a lot of doing things ourselves. I built the table for the space by hand. Stone blocks, a glass top. Simple, a little raw, but with intention behind every detail. Just like the collection itself.
The space was calm. Cream curtains pooling on the floor. A Wassily chair in the corner. Four racks of pieces, each one handmade in our atelier in Belgium. We wanted it to feel like walking into someone's home, considered, quiet, nothing unnecessary.
And then people started walking in.
That's the part you can't plan for. The conversations that happen when someone puts something on for the first time. The way a fitting room can turn into a real moment between strangers. We met so many beautiful people over those two weeks, women who understood what we were trying to say without us having to explain it.
If you were there: thank you. Truly.
