Founded by Belgian designer Lena Onkelinx, the brand was born from a search for clothing that felt both elevated and effortless, pieces that could become part of a lasting wardrobe rather than a temporary moment. After years working within the fashion industry, she saw how much modern fashion had become driven by speed and overconsumption. LENA MAE was created as a slower alternative: intentional collections, exceptional fabrics, and designs made to be worn for years.

At LENA MAE, our collections are built differently from traditional fashion cycles, many designs begin with the fabric. We carefully source exceptional deadstock materials from European mills and luxury fashion houses, selecting fabrics for their quality, structure, and longevity. From there, we design timeless, versatile pieces made to be mixed, layered, and worn repeatedly across seasons. New styles are first developed in small batches through our Belgian atelier and tested through pop-ups, offline events, and community feedback. This allows us to produce more intentionally and avoid unnecessary overproduction. Depending on the product and expertise required, we also collaborate with trusted European ateliers and manufacturers known for their craftsmanship and quality.

Our pieces are handmade in small batches by Viktoria and Liza in our Belgian atelier specialised in high-quality and circular fashion production. By producing locally and in limited quantities, we are able to focus on craftsmanship, reduce overproduction, and create pieces designed to be worn for years to come.
